Kalamazoo City Water Connection Authorization
Water System Update: The Gull Lake Sewer and Water Authority does not operate and maintain the water mains in Richland Township or Richland Village, however, the Township and Village require a permit to be filled out and reviewed administratively by the Authority. As of summer, 2009, the City of Kalamazoo discontinued its long-standing practice of installing taps and connecting homes to the public water mains operated by the City of Kalamazoo. Homeowners will be required to retain a contractor and pay the cost of connecting to the water system to the contractor. The contractor or homeowner will have to pay the City of Kalamazoo $300 +/- for the meter, meter horn and inspection by the City.
